Description

This course will be covering my doctoral capstone project of the final outcome of creating a chronic pain prevention program. Currently, I am an occupational therapy doctoral candidate at Drake University. To complete my doctorate degree of occupational therapy, I chose to work with the neurological rehabilitation population due to being passionate, interested, and wanting to enhance my knowledge within this setting. The project was inspired and focused on the stroke population after discharged from rehabilitation in the acute occupational therapy setting. Overall, the goal for the project was to create a sustainable and practical chronic pain program at a clinical site.

During the course, you will go over the evidence base approach, models and themes that had influences, learning objectives, and learning activity to complete the learning objectives for the program. This project was completed within fourteen weeks along with daily clinical practice within the acute neurological setting. I was provided guidance from a licensed and register occupational therapist for both clinical practice and the capstone project. Along with the guidance, the clinical site had to approve every aspect of the program. This was to ensure the project meets the clinical sites values and current established policies.
