Description

Have you ever played your favourite song before?

It’s THE BEST. If you’ve never played your favourite song before, you’re missing out on life.

The good news is…You can play your favourite song today.

You can play your favourite song today. That probably sounds crazy, I know.

I know you can play your favourite song today because I’ve been teaching beginner musicians how to play their favourite song for the past five years here in Toronto.

Here’s the big idea: if you know major and minor chords, you can play your favourite song today.

We’re going to learn major and minor chords – and all of the other major topics in music – without talking about the treble clef, bass cleff, staff, scales or key signatures. Instead of using the Roman Numeral Method of Music that dominates other courses, we’re going to approach music from the perspective of The Geometry Of Music.

And once you learn how to use The Geometry Of Music to play your favourite songs…something strange is going to happen. After you learn how to play your favourite songs, you’re going to start making your own songs.

Oh – how rude of me.

My name is Michael Jagdeo, and I’ve been teaching beginner musicians how to play their favourite songs for the past five years.

I learned how to play music 20 years ago in Toronto. Eventually, I got good enough to start playing in a band and even performed at Madison Square Gardens in the world steelband competition. Later on, bands started asking me to play with them, and that’s when I had to learn music theory because I’d only have a week or two to learn 20 songs before the next show. Along the way I learned how to edit video and started making music videos like the theme song for Spaces On X.

Today, I’m part of a record label called Delmi Media & Entertainment on the business side of the music industry.

Many people I meet are nervous about learning how to play music. The idea of learning how to play music makes them anxious.

The first thing we need to recognize is that anxiety is a natural part of learning. Anxiety and feeling nervous is a natural part of learning.

What if I get confused? What if I don’t understand right away? What if I hit the wrong notes? What if I embarrass myself?

The fear of feeling embarrassed often convinces people to forget that the human being is an animal that learns very quickly. But human beings only learn if they believe they can learn. We don’t perform according to our ability; we perform according to our beliefs in our ability.

So, that means if we’re going to begin learning how to play music, we have to put anxiety in it’s place.

Tony Robbins said something interesting about anxiety. He said that anxiety can be turned into excitement. So, I’d like you to be aware of your feelings of anxiety, and recognize that you can transform this anxiety into excitement.

Now you might be saying, but Mike – I don’t have an instrument.

I don’t have a piano, a steel pan, a trumpet or a saxophone. How am I going to learn music without an instrument?

The good news is this: you do have access to an instrument.

And the best part is, you have access to an instrument that’s completely free to use.

FruityLoops Studio is a digital instrument that has won music producers over 40 Grammy Nominations this year. If it’s good enough for the Grammy’s, it’s good enough for me. You can jump direction to the section No Instrument No Problem to install it.

We’ll see you soon!

I believe in you.
