Description

This course was created for my Doctoral Capstone Project in Education. The course covers information regarding my doctoral capstone needs assessment based on retention of classroom material based on various learning styles which include my learning objectives and various resources, content examples to use to simulate an experience as well as a survey for professors to use in order to understand student learning and engagement. During my capstone experience, I discovered a strong interest in research related to academia. There are so many various learning strategies out there and being able to cater to every learner is very difficult if not impossible. The biggest barrier is finding ways to get hands-on experience in a simulated setting. There is a lack of research in this area directly related to occupational therapists which is why a bulk of my research focused on nurses and other medical personnel. My intention is that this course is utilized to help occupational therapists, professors or aspiring professors understand the importance of a simulated experience whether it is in person or a virtual (in-app) experience. My goal for this presentation is that individuals will understand my capstone objectives and artifacts, identify the purpose of educational materials/tools, recognize the need for a variety of tools/ materials for learning and retention of knowledge and utilize various tools and see the purpose of continuing research.
