Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) is an advanced certification that indicates that an individual possesses the knowledge and experience required to develop and manage an enterprise information security (infosec) program.

What is CISM certification good for?

CISM certification is an excellent choice for IT professionals transitioning from technical to managerial roles. It’s also a good certification for experienced program managers who wish to specialize in IT.

The exam consists of 150 multiple-choice questions and has a duration of 4 hours. Candidates must achieve a minimum score of 450 out of 800 to pass the exam. The exam can be taken at a designated testing center or online through the ISACA Remote Proctoring option.

To qualify for the CISM certification, candidates must have at least five years of experience in information security management, with at least three years in a leadership role. Candidates can also substitute a maximum of two years of general work experience or education for the experience requirement.
