Flying lessons. Without the cost.

All fixed wing aircraft fly the same way. They have the same instruments and combine yaw pitch and roll with power to control them. So in theory if you can fly 1 aircraft you can fly them all.

This is why we start our flying training on something easy basic and safe. Then we evolve.

The average cost of flying lessons is between $155 and $170 per hour. This price includes the average airplane rental cost and the typical cost of a flight instructor of $45 per hour. The cost can vary widely, depending on the student, the type of instruction chosen, and many other factors. For our purposes, I’m going to use averages and a series of assumptions to provide you with a reasonable estimation.

A Commercial Pilot licence would be appropriate if you choose to pursue a career as a pilot. As you would expect, it takes much more effort and money to earn this type of certificate. Airline transport pilots licence is much more involved.

A Sport Pilot Certificate was implemented by the FAA to serve as a more cost-effective option for those that want to learn to fly. Earning a Sport Pilot Certificate only requires roughly half the time and expense of a Private Pilot Certificate.

The trade-off for the lower cost to learn to fly is that the Sport Pilot Certificate limits what you can fly as well as where and when you can fly it. We’ll touch on that another day.

Alternatively you can learn to fly anything on your PC almost for free. PC in VR is so close to the real thing. Safer too. You can learn everything you need to know before committing yourself to the expense of flying training for a licence.
