Description

Welcome!

My name is Sami Pick, and this course outlines the preparation and completion of my occupational therapy doctoral capstone project. My capstone consisted of working on developing an occupation-based chronic pain management program. I had the privilege of working on this project at Loring Hospital in Sac City, IA alongside Collen Auen, the occupational therapist there.

Chronic pain is prominent issue in our society. There are chronic pain management programs throughout the United States, but there are little to non in rural areas. Creating this chronic pain management program in rural Northwest Iowa came with plenty of challenges and barriers. However, with perseverance and a team effort, the idea of the program came to life.
