Description

This course is in response to the growing frequency and violence of civil unrest in the United States. It is presented by a security professional with over four decades of international experience. The primary goal of this program is to provide basic training for the average American who may find themselves in, or even in close proximity to, a potentially riotous situation.

The course is not for potential demonstrators or law enforcement officers.

Instead, How to Survive an American Riot targets professionals who must deal with these events as part of their job. This can include anyone from small business owners to journalists.

The course is wide-ranging. It provides a bit of historical context with civil unrest from the past. However, a bulk of the content includes practicalΒ  advice on topics such as:

  • The importance of situational awareness.
  • The “actors” you will need to deal with. This includes protestors, counter-protestors, criminal opportunists, and the police.
  • What are protestors allowed to do? Where are they allowed to do it?
  • The importance of tactical and contingency planning.
  • Chemical riot-control agents. This includes basic first aid and self-aid.
  • Unidentified police. What are they? How to respond?
  • How to avoid being identified as a protestor. What to do if arrested.
