Clinical Approach to Corneal Opacity

This course elegantly goes over the subject of corneal opacity and stresses specific points which would help improve healthcare.

It introduces the learner to how to classify them, and then goes through a list of their causes and how the examination of the patient, as a whole, can aid the physician to get the proper cause. And then later how that cause can guide treatment.

We stop at two stages of life, birth, and adulthood, and examine common causes of corneal opacity in both. The list of causes is exhaustive so we’ve picked the ones you would commonly see and the ones that you can easily memorize and apply to your practice.

We discuss corneal dystrophy in depth before finally turning over to treatment which is divided into medical & surgical & explained efficiently in bullet points. Corneal dystrophy is a particularly important subject in the course instructor’s view since it is a glaring example of how each disease can be specific to a corneal layer in particular, and how that specification of layers will later act to guide treatment.
