Description
Students will learn how to make a color wheel- and the basics of color theory. Students will learn about primary colors- red, blue, and yellow, secondary colors- orange, purple, and green, and tertiary colors- red-orange, red-violent, yellow-orange, yellow-green, blue-green, and blue-violet. Students will learn how to neutralize colors with black, gray and white, making tints, tones and shades. Students will learn how to neutralize colors by mixing a color with its complement. Students will learn how to mix colors with six colors- the split primary- using a warm and coool red, a warn and cool blue, and a warm and cool yellow. Students will learn about the six harmonious color schemes- monochromatic, triadic, analogous, complement, split complement, and double complement. Students will create drawings in objective colors, using chalk pastels, oil pastels and colored pencils. Students will pick colored objects for still lives like, pots, flowers fruits and vegetables. Students will block in an outline of the drawing in pencil, paying close attention to the composition of the drawing. Students will block in colors- and draw in layers- adding layers of color to the drawing. Students will make some areas bright, and some areas neutralized or dull. Students will draw the cast shadows of the objects. Students will neutralize certain areas of color by adding white, black, gray or the complement.
