Description

Reiki is a holistic healing practice that originated in Japan in the early 20th century. The word “Reiki” is composed of two Japanese words: “Rei,” which means universal, and “Ki,” which means life force energy. Reiki is often translated as “universal life energy” or “spiritually guided energy.”

The origins of Reiki can be traced back to a Japanese Buddhist monk named Mikao Usui. Usui embarked on a personal quest to discover the ancient healing methods used by spiritual leaders, including the Buddha and Jesus Christ. After years of study and meditation, Usui experienced a profound spiritual awakening on Mount Kurama in 1922, which became the foundation for Reiki as we know it today.

Reiki is based on the concept of an energy system within the body. This system consists of various energy centers, known as chakras, and energy pathways, called meridians or nadis. The chakras are spinning wheels or vortexes of energy that correspond to different aspects of our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.During a Reiki session, the practitioner channels the universal life force energy and directs it to the recipient. The energy flows through the practitioner’s hands and into the recipient’s body, promoting the release of blocked or stagnant energy, and facilitating the restoration of balance within the energy system.
