Description
Tenses play a crucial role in the English language. It denotes the time an action takes place, whether sometime in the past, in the present or will take place some time in the future. Tenses are just the way we talk about time. Tenses can be broadly classified into three categories.Β – Past, Present and Future.
In each category of tense, there are four different types i.e.
1.Simple
2.Continuous
3.Perfect
4.Perfect Continuous
In this course, we will discuss in detail the four different types of Present tense:
i) Present Simple Tense
ii) Present Continuous Tense
iii) Present Perfect Tense
iv) Present Perfect Continuous Tense
Present simple tense is used to talk about General facts, regular actions, routine, habits and schedules.
Present Continuous tense is also known as Present Progressive tense.Β It is used to describe an action that is continuing or in progress at the present moment, changes taking place right now, things/events happening these days. i.e. action is continuing and has not finished.
Present Perfect tense is used to talk about achievements, life experiences, actions completed in the very recent past, same action repeated at different times, to describe an action during a time period that has not finished and to talk about recent events.
Present perfect continuousΒ tense is used to talk about an action started in the past and still continues in the present or finished very recently.
