This course is designed for all students interested in attending law school online or on campus. There are many options available for students interested in earning their Juris Doctorate online. This course evaluates all of the facets of becoming an attorney online and what students can expect from test taking with the LSAT, GRE, or GMAT to law school curriculum. The following questions students may have will be addressed first in this class content:
Is it possible to earn your Juris Doctorate online?
What is the best field to major in if you plan on law school?
Is it better to earn your Juris Doctorate online in the job market?
What programs exist for online Juris Doctorate students?
Are these programs expensive compared to on campus degree programs?
What is the Juris Doctorate?
What does a DCP look like for a JD?
What can you do with a Juris Doctorate degree?
Is it possible to become a lawyer without earning a Juris Doctorate?
Online college DCPs will be included for students to compare to better understand the online format.
After addressing each of the above questions students will gain advantage of learning how to excel at the LSAT, the GRE, and the GMAT. In this course there are sections for study review for each of the standardized exams. Students will gain the advantage of knowing how to take each of the three exams and have the liberty to decide which exam scores to send to colleges online.
After reviewing the LSAT, GRE, and GMAT students will learn how to put together an application for law school with admissions essays. Understanding the difference between online college requirements and in person classes will be evaluated also to help students decide which option is better for them.
This course explores the option of becoming an attorney without attending law school but by taking the BAR exam and following an apprenticeship in certain states. The four states are mentioned and research is provided to help students in these states determine if ‘reading the law’ is an opportunity they might want to take.
Finally students will participate in two interactive JD classes – the first called “A Higher Law” and the second legal writing. In “A Higher Law” this course students will gain historical knowledge of the higher law. ‘A Higher Law’ courses investigates the philosophy surrounding law with historical cases. In legal writing students will learn the rules of grammar in how to write like an attorney.
