Business acumen is basically business knowledge and terminology. The more you know, the broader your capacity. You do not need to memorize everything, however, you do want to have some recollection of business lingo associated with the business you may be in. Business Acumen is a combination of knowledge and skill informed by experience: knowledge about key business issues, the skill to apply that knowledge, and the confidence to take action influenced by past experiences. Business requires the ability to grasp the totality of a situation, to balance the merits quickly, make logical, sound decisions confidently, and to influence potential business associates to promote your agenda and have a positive impact towards achieving the objectives of the busienss or charitable organization you are associated with. Understanding business acumen is a starting point for healthy debate with associates, and understanding that everyone’s viewpoints will be slightly different depending on their own experience and whatever market context they may manage.
