Why take this course?
Bonjour et bienvenue (hello and welcome) to French Grammar โ Quick Guide โ Verbs 2. This course is designed to get you familiar with French grammar in quick, easy-to-understand lessons.
In any language, verbs are the backbone to sentences. Without verbs there would be no sentences. The good thing about verbs is that you can manipulate them and use them to express anything you like. Look at these sentences, for example:
I was learning French
I used to learn French
I would learn French
I will learn French
All these sentences contain pretty much the same words, โIโ, โlearnโ and โFrenchโ, but they mean different things because weโve manipulated the verb โlearnโ into different tenses. In โVerbs 1โ, we learnt all about infinitives, the โgoingโ future tense, the present perfect tense and the present tense. In Verbs 2, we going to venture further into the world of French verbs, and weโll be learning all about the future tense, the imperfect tense and the conditional. To help you to become familiar with the verb tenses, youโll find lots of exercises to enable you to build proficiency in French grammar.
With each tense, weโll be looking at how to form it, how to turn it negative, and weโll also be looking at the various ways you can translate the different tenses into English. The Quick Guide courses are great for learning the specifics of French grammar, without any prerequisites. I wonโt be using any vocabulary without introducing it first, meaning you can focus purely on grammar acquisition rather than worrying about not understanding the verbs. However, we will be using vocabulary learnt in Verbs 1, so I recommend you read that book before starting this one. Iโll give you a list of verbs at the start of the course, and weโll be using these throughout โ they are the same verbs we looked at in Verbs 1. These Quick Guide courses can also be used as reference guides to use as a revision should you ever need to brush up on your French grammar.
